there are two types of businesses, god’s and your’s

Genesis 4:3-5

“3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.“

What I take from this story is, that we as men, often pursue careers and jobs of our own ambition. We separate KINGDOM work from our CAREER work and then, we offer our careers to God saying, “Lord, look at what I was doing for the Kingdom!”

God seems to say, we weren’t working for the Kingdom. We were working for ourselves.

We try to make ourselves feel better, by offering it to the Lord. Instead, we should have been doing exactly what He asks of us; to be fully committed to the Kingdom and make disciples of all nations.

Many Christians say, not everyone is called to become a missionary or begin a ministry — that most of us are called to serve God in our workplace. However, I strongly and adamantly disagree. I believe, We, are the ones who have it backward.

If we claim not to be of this world, then we should be the ones to say, “Most of us should be missionaries and in Ministry, with few of us who have chosen to follow a career.” After all, it’s the World that holds a career above God.

The World has convinced Christians to follow its paths, instead of following the Kingdom path. Many of us are so bought in, that we aren’t able to see otherwise. Take today, to rededicate your life to following what God has for you, instead of offering what you want God to accept.
