It all started when…

For work I drive a lot around Southern California visiting construction projects from Lompoc to Long Beach, Camarillo to San Diego and one of the most difficult things weighing on my heart is the immenseness of our homeless problem that only continues to worsen.

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 15:11 ESV:

“For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.”

Jesus also said, in 1 John 3:17 ESV:

“But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?”

So for me it became a mission to do something small for as many homeless and disinfranchised as I could to bring them to know Jesus, thus, Project Deep Shade was born.

Project “Deep Shade” is…

Care packages for the homeless we meet during chance encounters on the side of the road, on freeway exits, and walking down the street. We offer these as a gift of generosity to help spread the gospel and love on our fellow man and woman. We provide New Testament Bibles in English and Español.

Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. 15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” 16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. 18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.”
