The Real Dilemma, is a Relationship Dilemma

If we often have somebody else’s voice talking in our ears, we’ll rarely have time to sit silent in the presence of God and hear his voice in conversation.

I’m guilty of it too. I’m often listening to a book, a podcast, or music. Many of which are God-based and worship. But even too much of a good thing may be damaging to our intimacy with Jesus. It made me realize that I’ve been spending less time in relationship with God and most of my time seeking more knowledge about God.

With each piece of technology keeping us connected to the internet; with data being streamed to our eyes and ears, every hour of the day, the social algorithms have accounted for what it is “they” think is what we want to see most, but they intentionally won’t leave room for Jesus.

If you check your phones’ activity for the week, how would your time with God stack up against the heavy-hitters on your phone or tablet? If the answer is likely, not in the top 10 of total hours spent per app… that’s by design.

These are machines that we utter more simple phrases throughout the day to than we do with God most of the time in prayer.

  • Alexa

  • Siri

  • Cortana

Technology hasn’t told us our relationship with God is wrong because that would start the next holy war in America.

So what did they do instead?

“They” have created their own twisted version of God who often tells us and shows us what we want to hear. Which, as we know as Christian’s, is the exact opposite of how our God really works.

The Lamp of the Body

…23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. 25Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

- Matthew 6:23-25
