Aligned Values for Christ-followers Are Not the World's Values

If we dressed up for Halloween this year, did our costume align with the values we hold in Jesus?

We have allowed our faith-culture to be dictated by those who do not believe in the same God we do. We celebrate Halloween like it is a part of our Christian culture, but it's the farthest thing from it.

At-least, if we are going to celebrate, don't dress up as something that is dark. Satan wants nothing more than to draw you away from your Heavenly Father and Satan is a cunning bastard. He sneaks into our lives and lies in wait until the perfect time to strike. Sometimes he doesn't even have to raise a finger against us because we've become less of a threat to him and his mission as we have been more consumed by the world's culture.

We were at church last night for a family-friendly Halloween night and somebody had the nerve to dress up kike a witch and go up on stage.... are you kidding me?!

What part of putting on something, so deeply embedded in a history of the occult, human sacrifice and ritual blood worship, says anything about your reflection of the Holy Spirit who lives within us?

If Jesus were alive, here today, and witness the behavior of Christians, falling into the subtle temptations as simple as costumes, how do you think he would feel if he saw us wearing a costume as the devil, Jesus' enemy? I think he would breakdown and weep in sadness of our behavior.

Jesus died on the cross so that we would be free from sin and darkness forever, yet we rep, not the King of Heaven's armies but the lord of darkness, Lucifer himself and what he represents.

A couple questions we might ask ourselves are:

So how do we get back on track?

If the Holy Spirit doesn't seem present with us today, how can we get right with Him?

Three Tips:

01. Renounce

We have to make know to the Lord with our audible voice, not just in our heads, that we acknowledge what we have done against the holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 14:6

“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Repent and turn away from your idols and turn your faces away from all your abominations."

02. Forgiveness

We have already been saved and our salvation is secure... and... we still need to ask God for forgiveness for what we have done because we are saying sorry directly to the holy Spirit.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

03. Banishment

We banish because we are declaring the Satan and the powers of this earth have no control over my life any longer. We are removing that part of darkness from our lives.

Jeremiah 27:10

"For they prophesy a lie to you in order to remove you far from your land; and I will drive you out and you will perish."

I renounce the actions and thoughts I have had that are against the Holy Spirit and ask Jesus for his forgiveness. I apologies for wounding the Spirit and ask that His presence return to me as it is His will. I then banish those things in the name of Jesus Christ.

John 1:32

John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.

It's time to get right with the Holy Spirit because he is like a dove and is easily wounded by our sins against Him.
